The Whalehead Preservation Trust was appointed by Currituck County officials in 1993 as stewards of the Whalehead Club and the 39 acres of property surrounding it. You can help the Trust to preserve this historic and recreational site by making donations of time through volunteering (see the volunteer page on this site) or making financial contributions to the Whalehead Preservation Trust Endowment Fund. The fund is managed through the North Carolina Community Foundation, a statewide foundation that provides professional management of local endowment funds, using sophisticated investment techniques to make the fund grow. As an IRS designated 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization gifts to the Whalehead Preservation Trust are welcomed and are fully tax deductible. Here are some ways you can participate:

  • Cash Gifts
  • Real Estate
  • Charitable Remainder of Lead Trusts
  • Bequests
  • Furnishings and exhibit items in keeping with the Whalehead Club Collections Policy
  • Stocks and other appreciated assets

Be sure to consult your financial and legal advisors about all such gifts to ensure that you are taking full advantage of current tax benefits.

For more information on giving options, contact: Ray Meiggs, Whalehead Club Chief Operating Officer and Endowment Director, director@whaleheadclub.com, or Peggy Birkemeier, North Carolina Community Foundation pbirknccommf@embarqmail.com
